CipherOptics and Loea announce strategic partnership to provide secure point-to-point wireless

Raleigh, N.C. and San Diego, CA. (Feb. 1, 2005) - CipherOptics Inc., a leading innovator of gigabit-speed IPSec appliances, and Loea Corporation, a leading developer of point-to-point wireless communications, today announced that they will collaborate to provide secure broadband wireless solutions to government agencies and enterprises. They are kicking off the partnership by co-hosting a webinar, “High-Speed IP Connectivity: The Case for Secure Broadband Wireless,” Feb. 9 at 12:00 p.m. (EST). For more information or to register please visit www.cipheroptics.com.

Many organizations that rely on high-speed IP/Ethernet data communications are adopting point-to-point wireless solutions as a way of addressing their increasing need for bandwidth capacity and addressing the “last-mile” problem. However, just like wired networks, data traveling on these wireless networks must be protected from unauthorized access or manipulation. CipherOptics SG1002 IPSec appliance encrypts data at gigabit speed with wire-speed throughput and virtually no latency. It ensures data in transit is protected without encryption bottlenecks that slow down the network.

“By offering wire-speed throughput and low latency, CipherOptics is an ideal partner to secure our broadband wireless solutions,” said Jay Lawrence, Executive Director, Loea. “The Loea and CipherOptics team can provide customers the fastest, most secure and most available wireless links possible at distances of several kilometers.”

The CipherOptics SG1002 IPSec appliance and the Loea 2000 point-to-point wireless link have been lab-tested and integrate seamlessly for robust AES or 3DES IPSec encryption.

“The need for network security doesn’t end with wired networks – it’s equally critical for wireless links,” said Ron Willis, CipherOptics president and CEO. “The combination of Loea’s industry-leading wireless solutions and CipherOptics high-speed IPSec appliances will mean high-performance, secure broadband wireless networks for our customers.”

About Loea Corporation
Loea Corporation is the first to deploy 71-86GHz wireless products at Gigabit data rates and has been the pioneer for rulemaking efforts in this wireless spectrum. The Loea product is quick, easy and inexpensive to install and has robust all weather performance to several kilometers. The Loea system has received J/F-12 equipment certified with the NTIA which is required for federal deployment and is listed on several GSA schedules. Loea is a subsidiary of Trex Enterprises, a technology incubator funded by contracts with the Department of Defense. Trex has been in business for over 25 years.
